According to some reports in the Sunday papers, Everton had scouts watching Coventry City keeper Keiren Westwood at Blackpool yesterday.

Everton have had the Republic Of Ireland international keeper watched over the last six months by both first team manager David Moyes and Everton's goalkeeping coach Chris Woods.

The City keeper's actions with his prolonged applause of the City fans on the final whistle, led some of the 1560 City supporters still in the away end at Bloomfield Road yesterday, to believe that he is on his way and has added more fuel to the fire.

Chris Coleman told the CT in the week: "There have been no offers, no conversations, no nothing and I don't want any. "Where could we get a replacement? "It's one thing if you're selling players at the start of the summer but something else again if you're only three or four days away from the end of the transfer window.

"Keiren's not going anywhere unless somebody's going to come up with 10 million quid - then we might say yes."
