Coventry City have announced via their web-site that they are cancelling the half-time hotshots with immediate effect. It is a move seen as using a sledge-hammer to crack a nut move by the club.
Children whose parents had paid for their kids to take penalties on the Arena turf was not the problem. What many City fans objected to, was the ear splitting catawailing by the female Touch FM presenter.

A statement by the club on their web-site said the club would give a full refund to all those affected and quoted Paul Fletcher as saying: "I am aware that by cancelling the children's penalty prize competition at half-time, that I am making some excited children and parents very unhappy. Unfortunately a large proportion of the 20,000 plus fans don't feel that the Half-time hotshots is an enjoyable form of half-time entertainment. "Sometimes I need to make tough decisions but I will always do them on behalf of Coventry City fans and Coventry City Football Club. My sincere apologies to the children and parents that this decision has upset."
