COVENTRY CITY U18's 0-1 READING U18's BY KEV MONKS

Coventry City put in a battling performance but went down to a single goal defeat at home to Reading.

Brian Borrows side, who face Southend in the FA Youth Cup, were on the attack early on, with Dale Jones nodding the second of two corners wide in the tenth minute.

In the 23rd minute,City striker Ange Lourougnon fired wide following a good move. Reading broke through Simon Church who crashed a six yard shot against the bar.

Reading were a constant threat going forward, forcing City's defence to get in plenty of tackles. Some of the tackles were not to the liking of referee Mr Caswell who cautioned Fitzharris,Jones and Hildreth in the first period.
Neil Collett was always busy and made a stunning save in the 47th minute to push a Church header onto the bar before it was cleared for a corner.

In the 71st minute,Reading took the lead when referee Mr Caswell spotted a handball on the edge of the area. Gyti Siggurdson took the place kick and curled it past the diving Collett and into the net.

Dale Jones had a superb game at centre half, feeding long balls through to help City's attack but it was to no avail and City went down to defeat.
