Sky Sports reports speculate that Preston North End, Sheffield United and League 1 Southampton are all watching Elliot Ward with a view to signing him either on loan immediately or on a permanent deal in the January transfer window.

Ward, yesterday, turned down a loan deal at Division Two Notts County saying he wanted a permanent move, not a loan deal.

The 24 year old defender is out of contract at Coventry City in the summer and has been told that he does not figure in the long term plans of City manager Chris Coleman.
