Wrexham AFC have confirmed that they have former Coventry City midfielder Kevin Thornton on trial.

The midfielder came through City's ranks to make fifty appearances for the Sky Blues.

In 2009, he was loaned to Brighton before returning to the club. However, when a court appearance came to light, his contract was terminated and Thornton went into non-league football, playing for Coventry Sphinx and Nuneaton Town before joining Northampton Town on a short term contract in 2010.

His deal at Sixfields was ended in September 2011 and he signed for Nuneaton before being side-lined with a calk injury.

Thornton has now gone to Wrexham, who are managed by former Sky Blue Andy Morrell and have Robert Ogleby in their ranks, with a view of winning a permanent deal with the North Wales side looking to return to the Football League.
