This Is My Best Spell - Eastwood

Coventry City striker Freddy Eastwood has said that he is in best form since he joined the club.

The striker played well at Scunthorpe and against Newcastle before becoming the first Coventry City player to score a home hat-trick at the Ricoh Arena on Saturday as well as the first City player for eleven years to hit a home hat-trick for the first team in a competitive match.

Speaking to the CT, a delighted Eastwood said: "I came here to score goals and I have got three in one game now and I will obviously be confident in every game I play now.

"After last season, when I only scored three goals, it couldn't have got much worse for me and it wasn't good enough. "So this season I had to kick on. I don't think I started a game for the first 10 games but I have played the last three and got the rewards I have wanted. "I think I have been playing well at wide right and obviously that's why the gaffer has put me back up top, and thanks to that I got my goals.

"This is definitely the best spell of form I have had at Coventry. "Although we lost on Wednesday, I still felt I played well myself, as I did at Scunthorpe. "Hopefully I am getting my old form back and the next game can't come quick enough now.

"We have got a tough fixture list and hopefully we can hit a bit of form for that."

Speaking about his hat-trick, the first by a City player since Lee Hughes at Crewe in the 6-1 win in 2002, Eastwood said: "The last hat-trick I scored was against Bristol on my 21st birthday for Southend five years ago. "I have had a few in my time - four or five - but I don't think any of them have come at such an important time as now because it has lifted the pressure off us and the manager.

"We put ourselves in this situation and it is a bad situation to put us in, and hopefully we can kick on now."
