"We're talking to a few people, we're in a situation where we're not going in blind and we know what it is we want," said Boothroyd. "The January transfer window is a lot about hearsay, rumour and gossip and I can't deal with hearsay, I hate rumour and I despise gossip.
"I know what we need and a lot of that is right under our nose and I'd be telling you fibs if I told you we're as strong as we can be. We do need some strengthening in certain areas but that will always remain private.
"Sometimes people surprise you and step up to the plate and I'm hoping the lads who have been on the sidelines, more than played, that when they get an opportunity will show what they're all about. So in terms of targets, they might already be sat on the bench."
