Coventry Sphinx were beaten 4-1 by Coleshill Town in a Midland Alliance fixture.

The action started very early at Sphinx Drive when Coleshill were given a free kick and Sam Wilson curled in from a sixth minute free kick.

Three minutes later, Sphinx attacked. Jack Cudworth went down in the area and referee Jon Walker awarded a penalty which Cudworth easily dispatched.

In the 19th minute, there were complaints from the Sphinx support when Coleshil's Danny Carter pulled back a defender and allowed him to get some space and score.

Steve Barrett had a fine shot from 18 yards pushed onto the bar by Pace who made another good save from a 29th minute Jack Taylor shot.

Tom Muldoon was cautioned for persistent infringement and this gave Coleshill a 33rd minute free kick which saw the ball played over to Matt O'Beirne who rifled home with a powerful shot.

Sphinx battled but eight minutes from time, a lob from Phil Gauke saw the Sphinx support heading for home.
