Coventry Sphinx FC triumphed 5-3 in a local derby against Massey Ferguson tonight at Sphinx Drive. Kevin Kingham's side were ahead inside 35 seconds when Carl Farquahson swept in from close range. Sphinx were level in the 21st minute when Adam Knibbs rose to power home an Adie Fisher cross.

Four minutes later, Sphinx went ahead when Robbie Stevenson converted a penalty with a third goal coming in the 33rd minute thanks to a stunning twenty yard volley from Craig Martin.

Massey's who fielded former Sky Blue Tom Bates kept things tight until the 79th minute when a Fisher shot was blocked and the rebound was put away by Craig Martin.

In the 83rd minute, Sphinx substitute PJ Gordon scored when he lofted the ball over the visiting keeper. Deep into stoppage time,Massey's reduced Sphinx's margin of victory through Andy Nalan in Sphinx boss Paul Charnley's 50th game in charge.

Eslsewhere,City's next opponents Colchester United stuffed Sheffield Wednesday 4-0 in a Championship game and Bedworth United earned a 4-4 draw at Solihull Borough.
