Slade: The Reward At The End Of The Day Is A Trip To Wembley

Coventry City manager Russell Slade has said that the Sky Blues must aim for a place in the EFL Final at Wembley when they take on Brighton U21's at the Ricoh Arena tomorrow night.

Slade will become the third person to take City for an EFL Trophy game this season and he told Laura Hunter: “We’ve got to this stage, which is great. Really, we need to try and push on with it, the side will go out their to be competitive and try and win the game.

“Arguably, besides one or two, our team will be of a similar age to Brighton. From that point of view, it’ll be evenly matched. We’ll be playing a technical side, players who are on the fringe of their first team.

“They have some good quality in their side, who have first-team experience. We’ll be having all the necessary conversations and preparing in the right way.

“You’d rather play in front of a packed stadium for the atmosphere, but it is still a competitive match and the reward at the end of the day is a trip to Wembley. That is massive.”
