Coventry City have taken Leon Barnett on loan from West Brom until the end of January.

The 23 year old central defender has played more than fifty times for West Brom after joining them in a £2.5m move from home town club Luton Town in 2007.

Barnett is one of three players, Chris Coleman is trying to bring in on loan and the City boss told the club website: "We've made no secret of the fact that we have been looking to strengthen at the back but we wanted to make sure we got the right man in.

"I am delighted to get Leon until the end of January and we believe he will go a very good job for us over the next three months."

Barnett played on Monday for West Brom Reserves in a 10-0 win over Burton Albion and scored in the game.

The loan looks to have ended interest in Sheffield Wednesday defender Richard Wood who is also available on loan with a view to a permanent transfer after he was placed on the transfer list.
