Sherwood Off-Loaded

Coventry City have paid up Tim Sherwood's contract and off-loaded the player. The former England midfielder was signed by Peter Reid last season in a deal that was much criticised.

Somehow passing a medical, Sherwood limped out of the pre-season tour of Germany without making an appearance and made played in eleven matches before problems with the leg he broke whilst at Portsmouth caused him to be banished by the club.

As the highest wage earner at the club (£9,000 a week was one reported figure), Sherwood who was made captain encountered the wrath of the City fans with some of his performances before the injury worsened.

There has been no comment on how much Sherwood was paid to leave, but his departure will give Micky Adams a bit more spending power.
