Robins: The Players Responded To The Support

Coventry City manager Mark Robins praised the City support who turned out in numbers on a bitterly cold day at Gresty Road to see the Sky Blues beat Crewe Alexandra 2-1.

Robins said about the win to the Coventry Telegraph; “The supporters were outstanding.

“I have been here a lot of times and I have not seen it where the opposite side has been filled like that, and it was outstanding and I thought the players responded really well to it.

“We deservedly took the lead and then conceded, as deservedly because we got a little bit sloppy and it felt difficult and made it look difficult with the conditions where we gave the ball and allowed them the freedom of the right-hand side to put a ball in the six yard box and score, which a poor goal to give away.

“After that we got back into it and back on top and even though it was difficult to kick out over the halfway line I thought we managed it really well.

“We got our noses in front again with another really well taken goal from Tom Bayliss who did it three or four times, gettings away from his marker and tucked it in off the post which was brilliant for us.

“We could have then extended the lead with another chance from Clarke-Harris who just toe poked it agonisingly wide. And then in the second half it was the same story where we had them high up the field.

“I thought we defended well when we had to but were on the front foot to win the ball back and get high up the field to create more chances.

“It could have been five or six goals to one really.”
