Robins Hits Out At City Side

Coventry City Manager Mark Robins blasted his players for a poor performance during the 2-1 defeat at Brentford last night.

City were deservedly beaten after David McGoldrick had given the Sky Blues an early lead and could have been beaten by a lot more had Paul Hayes and Clayton Donaldson put their chances away.

Speaking to the CT's Andy Turner, Mark Robins said: “I’ve got to take it on the chin but everybody needs an absolute rocket after that.

“We do the right things day in, day out and then we get a performance like we got tonight.

“We played for the first 15 minutes and a little bit in the second half but we’re in the bottom four and there’s no urgency.

“I keep saying these are good players and they are, but good players need to work hard and do the right things and we haven’t done that tonight.

“No decisions went our way but there’s nothing we can do about that and the fact is that we were naive at the back.

“Carl Baker and Cody McDonald gave us a little bit of impetus when they went on and we could have sneaked it when John Fleck hit the post, but you get what you deserve.”
