Coventry City manager Mark Robins, unlike some previous City managers is not complaining about the amount of matches that the Sky Blues face over the Christmas and New Year period.

City take on Preston North End at home tomorrow, followed by a trip to Stevenage on Boxing Day, a trip to MK Dons on December 29th, Shrewsbury Town at home on January 1st, Tottenham away on January 5th , Preston at home in the JPT Semi-Final on January 10th, Carlisle United away on January 13th and Tranmere at home on January 16th.

Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Alan Poole, Mark Robins who is getting on with the fixtures rather than moaning about them, said: “It looks very hectic on paper but if you think about it, it means we play Saturday/Wednesday/Saturday/Tuesday, which is what we do for most of the season anyway.

“We’re used to playing midweek games, that’s the job, and if there are games on then players want to play, especially when they’re in the middle of a run like we are.

“Clubs at the top level who have got a big squad of players can sometimes make a big rotation against a side who haven’t got that strength in depth.

"Their energy levels haven’t been replenished but you’ve got eight or nine fresh players ready to go and that can be a big advantage.

“We’re not in that position; for us it’s about continuity, fighting for the shirt, maintaining your level of performance because somebody is breathing down your neck wanting to take your place if suspensions or injuries gives them a chance.”
