Robins: Being Up Against Mowbray & Venus Could Capture The Imagination

Coventry City manager Mark Robins has said that the Carabao Cup First Round tie against Blackburn Rovers could have extra spice due to the League One club being managed by former City boss Tony Mowbray and his assistant Mark Venus.

Robins said about the tie which is expected to be on Tuesday August 8th at the Ricoh Arena subject to the availabilty of the Ricoh and agreement of the necessary agencies, to Billie Marshall: "“Obviously there is excitement because it’s the first fixture that we get to know about.

"There is an added spice about the tie in as much that we will be up against our former Manager, Tony Mowbray and Technical Director, Mark Venus which could capture the imagination of our supporters.

"It’s a game I am looking forward to and a competition we want to progress in.”

City have met Blackburn once in the League Cup and lost 2-0 at Ewood Park in 1994 with Alan Shearer getting both goals.
