Robins: A Really Good Away Performance

Coventry City manager Mark Robins said it was a really good away performance as the Sky Blues ended their Spotland hoodoo with a 1-0 win away to Rochdale.

City won thanks to a Jordy Hiwula goal and speaking to the media about the win, Mark Robins said: “At one point there were eight ill on a training day and it was difficult doing the preparation because we had no players in.

“Then Friday comes around and David Meyler was struggling with injury so it was just a case of picking the team and talking about how we wanted to approach the game, an they have done that.

“Today’s hotel meeting was good, you could see their focus and they backed it up with a great win and what I thought was a really good away performance.

"We have spoken for a long time about how good we look on the ball and I thought we mixed it up today and got both sides of the game.

“We got blocks in when we needed to, we created chances and moved the ball about well on a difficult pitch and against a difficult side to play against.

“It’s a notoriously difficult place to come to and they are fighting for their lives again, so I was pleased with a lot of their performances.

“These are a tough nut to crack and I have found in my managerial career that Keith Hill sets his teams up well and are always difficult to beat, so that is a tremendous win.

“I am just pleased with the three points for the supporters and the players. It’s all right me coming in and saying we’re almost a good team but some of the supporters will be wondering what I am thinking about.

“We have to get the right mentality and the belief throughout the squad that they’re doing the right things, and that gives us a boost going into next week’s game against Walsall.”
