Former Coventry City captain Richard Keogh has signed a three extension to his contract at Derby County FC.

Keogh said to  Rams Player, “It was important for myself and for my family to get this sorted.

“It’s taken a while, but sometimes they take a longer. A few of the lads have signed up now, which was a big thing for me and the club has been busy.

“We have been negotiating and I’m delighted it has all been agreed.

“The most important thing as a footballer is to keep your head down and just play football and let everything take care of itself.

“When I knew the club wanted to offer me a new contract, I was very keen to sit down and get something sorted.

“The most important thing for me was to keep my performances high on the pitch and I’m just delighted its agreed now and I am looking forward with this team and this club.

“I had a good chat with the manager, Sam and everyone at the club and I feel like the club is really moving forward.

“It’s a good sign when the manager’s committed as well as all the key players.

“We have got a really good squad here and it’s only going to get better. That was an important thing for me and I am delighted to be part of it.”
