Stern John who has failled to impressed City supporters since moving from Birmingham City, scoring only one penalty, will be rested for the game with Peter Reid claiming that he wants the Trinidadian fresh for Saturday's home game against Reading.

John brought the biggest cheer of the day at Reading when he was replaced by Patrick Suffo and has told City supporters to lay off him.

The City boss said: "With the game on Saturday in mind, I’m leaving Stern John out to get some training. 'I think it would be better for Stern and I think it would be better for us as a football club.

'We’ve got some more of the lads in the squad – Craig Pead’s in there as is Gary McSheffrey, Neil Wood and Eric Deloumeaux so we’ve got options.

'When you are getting so many games in such a short period of time I think sometimes it’s better to make those decisions.'
