The move comes after news that City can forget about getting Liverpool's Stephen Warnock back on loan. Warnock featured as a sub in Liverpool's 1-1 draw at Spurs on Saturday, their win over Graz last week and a number of pre-season games and looks set to play a part in Rafael Benitez's plans.
Rumours from Merseyside indicate that City stalled on a deal to sign Warnock last March and that the Sky Blues will not get any more players from Liverpool.
