Speaking about the 1-1 draw with Preston,Peter Reid told the club website:

Lewis has hit a great strike for the goal which you can’t argue with. "I don’t like players being sent off but I’m not sure whether he should have been on the pitch to tell you the truth. But the referee has made that decision. "I was in the stands and I got a decent view of it – the arm was raised. You don’t want people to be dismissed but you can’t raise your arm on a football pitch.

"I thought Eddie got a half-decent goal as well. I thought he was physically strong in the box because that’s what strikers like to do - get their body in front. "He uses his strength to turn people and I thought that’s what he did, but in the end the decision went the other way.

"I thought Preston came and did a good job in terms of making it tight, with three at the back and five across the middle of the park. "They made it difficult for us and to be honest I thought we looked a bit leggy. But we worked hard and even though we didn’t pass it well, the effort was there. "There was a lot of quality and I think you’ve got to give them credit for that. I thought Preston had a good game plan on us.

"We looked a lot more solid and that’s a pleasing thing from my point of view because in games prior to Reading we have looked susceptible at the back and we haven’t looked comfortable.

"I thought Ady Williams looked solid and did all right. The players have worked hard and its another game undefeated. "Although I would have liked to see us shut down Preston’s goal a bit better because we did defend well in terms of getting bodies in the way. I thought there was a couple of my players, or at least one that could have got his body in the way of that, but you can’t deny it was a good goal and Luke Steele had no chance.

"Florent Laville was just feeling his groin so we thought we’d take him off because he’s only with us for a month and we didn’t want to risk it. "Flo will be off up to Bolton so we’ll speak to Sam Allardyce and give our medical report so our fingers are crossed. He said it was just niggling so hopefully it’ll settle down. He’s had a long time out and that’s his second real competitive game and I think he’s done remarkably well for us."
