Coventry City Chairman Ray Ranson has been talking about yesterday's business which saw David Bell signed and James McPake on his way in a week where Lee Sawyer and Jordan Henderson were taken on 28 days loans from Premiership clubs.

Speaking to the club website, Ranson said: "I hope everyone sees again the pattern of what we are trying to achieve. We are bringing in two young players on a permanent basis who we feel have their best years ahead of them - and we want those years to be with Coventry City.

"We had already agreed to sign James from Livingston as he was out of contract in the summer but he wanted to join us and we wanted him at the Ricoh as soon as we could.

"We have made that possible and, along with the loan arrivals of Jordan Henderson and Lee Sawyer, we have strengthened key areas of the squad.

"We brought in Scott Dann and Dan Fox at this time last year and everyone knows how well they have done."
