Ranson On Incomings

Coventry City Chairman Ray Ranson has been talking about the new signings.

Speaking to the club's e-zine, Mr Ranson said: "It has certainly been a frantic 48 hours - but in the end it has been a worthwhile effort.

We have been chasing David Bell and James McPake for months now and there were times when we did not necessarily think we would get them at this time, but we stuck at it and it has paid off.

Chris Coleman identified David soon after he came to the club and we did try to sign him in the summer. That, for various reasons, did not work out but we are really pleased to have got our man now.

We had already agreed to sign James from Livingston as he was out of contract in the summer but he wanted to join us, and we wanted him at the Ricoh as soon as we could.

We have made that possible and, along with the loan arrivals of Jordan Henderson and Lee Sawyer, we have strengthened key areas of the squad.

At the time of writing, Michael Mifsud is in talks with Barnsley and I think all parties hope that goes through.,It is no secret that he has wanted to move on for a while and once that was the case, it was probably best that it happened.

I hope everyone sees again the pattern of what we are trying to achieve. We have brought in two young players on a permanent basis who we feel have their best years ahead of them - and we want those years to be with Coventry City."
