Coventry City Chairman Ray Ranson has said that he is looking forward to the new season after the fixtures were announced yesterday.

"There are some massive games in there in that first couple of months," said Mr Ranson speaking to the C.T. "Every match will present its own challenge with sides looking to get off to the best possible start.

"We signed off against Ipswich Town last season but I think both sides will have a different look about them at the beginning of the new campaign compared to that fixture. "We will have certainly strengthened our squad before then.

"Supporters will obviously be looking out for last season's Premier League sides - especially Newcastle because of the size of the club - as well as the local derby against Leicester.

"But I am just as excited by fixtures against the likes of Swansea who played some great football last season and the clash at the Ricoh was a very entertaining game.

"We had some memorable occasions here last season including beating Birmingham, Wolves and Blackburn at home and also filling the Ricoh against Chelsea.

"We all know the support is there for us in the city and we want to recreate that feeling and atmosphere as often as we can next season.

"We are really pleased with season ticket sales so far and hopefully the fixture list will have caught the imagination of those fans who haven't renewed yet or are thinking of buying a season ticket for the first time."
