Coventry City manager Steven Pressley defended his players during the 1-1 draw with Scunthorpe United.

Many in the 6,885 crowd were deeply unhappy with the performance but Pressley told the Coventry Teelgraph's Andy Turner:  “I was extremely proud of my players – to a man they couldn’t have given more to the team.

“It’s a difficult environment at the moment – the frustrations are spilling over from the stands which is understandable – but the thing I was really proud of is that they stuck to their principles.

“They kept playing, they were patient, they kept moving the ball in a game that for long periods we dominated and for such a young side that showed tremendous courage.

“The energy levels were fantastic: at one stage we had our centre-back almost overlapping our right-back to try to find a way back into the game.

“I’m very pleased with the efforts of the group; I don’t think they can give any more at this moment of time and if we can maintain the levels that I’ve seen over the last three games especially I’ve got no fears of getting out of trouble. “I’m very confident we can go on a winning run.”
