Pressley Praise For Central Defenders

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has been signing the praises of his central defenders Andy Webster and Danny Seaborne.

Pressley dropped Jordan Willis to the bench to accommodate Danny Seaaborne who along with Andy Webster put in a sterling display to help City get a 1-1 draw at Preston North End on Saturday.

It was harsh on Jordan because his form has been excellent,” admitted Pressley to the Coventry Telegraph's Alan Poole, “and he’s going to have a great future at this football club because he’s a big part of what I want to create here.

“But I explained to him that the decision was purely down to Dan’s experience – he was disappointed but I think he understood.

“This was always going to be a really tough challenge because Preston’s physicality puts defences under huge pressure – they get a lot of balls into the box and they’ve got two players who are very dangerous on crosses – and I thought our two centre-backs were out of this world.

“In the last two months Andy’s performances have been exceptional; he’s shown all his experience and know-how and once again his reading of the game and aggression were outstanding.

“Dan, too, has been involved in winning teams throughout his career and he’s brought that mentality with him.”
