Pleased We Stood Up To Rochdale - Venus

Coventry City manager and Otium Director Mark Venus has said that he was pleased with the way his side stood up to Rochdale during their 2-0 win.

Venus told the Press Association:  "We won't win every week if we play like that. We were playing against a good team with a lot of purpose that played on the front foot, but overall I was pleased with the way we stood up to them.

"The frustration for me was that we couldn't find the first man on the pass forward, but when we did we gave Rochdale problems, so that was the disappointing thing for me.

"We need to get better at heading the ball out of the box. The two centre backs' performances were good today - and that's the best game I've seen from Jordan Willis since I've been at this football club.

"I felt the defenders were overworked all through the game and that was down to Rochdale's good play - we couldn't get on the ball or get any rhythm to our play.

"They're getting better, but the players need to understand that they need to do more to push towards the top end of the table.

"It was a difficult game but I'm just pleased we came out the other end with a victory."
