Play To Your Strengths City

Chris Coleman has pledged to try and bring the right blend of players to the club. However, recruiting young top quality players who can do a job is not going to be easy for Coleman who has to work within strict guidelines from SISU.

With City losing £80k a week and now seemingly intent on saving money rather than making money on top of no income from the stadium (was allowng your Commercial Manager, who brings in more than half a million pounds a year, to leave after having cut his wages really good business sense?) as no deal to buy the ACL part of the stadium is even close to being struck, any money Coleman gets is likely to be limited.

He is going to shift those squad players not in his plans. With no reserve team this season, some will be happy to do nothing and still get paid until their contract runs out whilst others would probably leave if they got an offer.

But with no interest in any City player at the moment, it looks unlikely that anyone will be coming in any time soon.

This leaves Coleman,Kean, Murtough and Thorn, the one option of getting the best from what is available. Eric Black, Micky Adams to a certain extent and Iain Dowie certainly got some good results from the players they had to work with and Coleman will have to do the same.

Part of this should be playing to everyone's strength's. A recent poll on this site, overwhelmingly thought 4-5-1 was not playing to the strengths of the players.

In fact, playing it was to the detriment of top scorer Michael Mifsud. Often forced so far onto the right flank that he was more often than not, not going to get into positions to have a shot on goal.

Leon Best is clearly an in the box striker as his goals and offsides record last season proved and clearly will perform better when he has someone up front to play alongside.

Granted, Spain, where Coleman has managerial experience, won the Euro 2008 final on Sunday night playing the formation but that was only due to the injury to David Villa rather than any set way of playing. They played 4-4-2 for the rest of the tournament, playing an entertaining passing game with the football firmly on the floor.

City are away until Friday, training at Obertraun in Austria and hopefully, Chris Coleman, will be using the time to discovering if he does not already know the strengths of his players.

If he has then maybe, he will already have a team capable of providing us with an enjoyable Championship season.
