Oxford United v Coventry City

Coventry City take on Oxford United in their latest game of their pre-season program. City have Zavon Hines on trial. Hines was on loan, from West Ham, at City in 2008 where he played 7 times.

Oxford United have two former Sky Blues in their line up, Andy Whing and Josh Ruffels.

Oxford United: R Clarke (gk). Meades, Wright (c),  Smalley, Hunt, Hall, Williams Whing, Davies, Mullins, O'Dowd. Subs;Crocombe, Newey, Raynes, Constable, Potter, Rose, Marsh, Bevans, Ruffels

Coventry City: Murphy (gk), Phillips, Adams, Thomas, Willis, J Clarke, Fleck, Lobjoit, L Clarke, Moussa, Zavon Hines. Subs; Maund, Burge (gk), Garner, Azille-Moore. 

The City fans gave former Sky Blue Andy Whing a big cheer.

The game is underway.

City are having the better of the opening exchanges with City piling on the pressure.

7.A good ball from Willis wins a corner. Moussa has a shot blocked and Ryan Clarke, in the Oxford goal, grabs the loose ball.

10. City win a corner.

14. Oxford corner after Willis put the ball out. Murphy pushes the incoming corner out for anothe corner which is cleared.

There are about 400 City fans at the Kassam Stadium on this muggy afternoon, three of whom have been to every City pre-season game.

19. Adams sends the ball over to Thomas who shoots wide from 25 yards.

25. City win a free kick. Hines takes it, but it is blocked.

30. Another good Adams cross swinging in, but it is cleared.

 31. An Oxford free kick goes out fro a throw in.

Oxford are wearing their new purple away kit.

City's passing is good, but the final ball is lacking.

35. Whing wins the ball. It goes right to Davies who volleys a shot from 14 yards which Murphy pushes over for a corner.

37. Asa Hall shoots wide from 20 yards.

38. City awarded a free kick for a foul on Moussa. Leon Clarke takes the free kick and Ryan Clarke dives to his left to push away for a City corner.

41. Jordan Willis gets in the way to concede a throw in.

42. Leon Clarke has a shot on the turn, but it goes wide.

Back underway at the Kassam Stadium.

46. GOAL Oxford make three changes at the break. One of them, James Constable, scores with his forst touch to put Oxford 1-0 up.

48. Murphy gets down to stop a Constable shot.

49. Moussa has a low shot straight at the keeper.

52. Leon Clarke wins a corner. Fleck has a shot from 30 yards, high, wide and horrible.

55. Moussa on his left, fires not far wide from 20 yards.

57. It has all kicked off again. This time it's Fleck doing the pushing and shoving with Andy Whing trying to separate the players and dragging them off. No cards are shown.

58. Oxford go close to increasing thei rlead when Murphy watches the ball  go across the face of his goal.

60. Groans from the crowd as Hines sends his shot clean out of the ground.

61. Lobjoit fires over the bar.

61. Oxford make another change, Whing off and Ruffels comes on.

64. Persistance from Blair Adams and he gets in a rare city shot from inside the area which the keeper pushes over for a corner.

65. City take the corner and Jordan Clarke has his header cleared off the line.

66. Oxford make their fourth substitution. Bevans come on in place of Williams.

67. Thomas gets a bang on his head, but after treatment he is able to continue.

68. Oxford corner, Adams heads away. The ball is sent back in again, but goes wide and out for a City goal kick.

70. Oxford's Jack Wright goes down and immediately puts his hand up, a stretcher is called for and paramedics come onto the pitch. Wright is carried off to good applause from both sets of fans.

Wright is replaced by Newey.

The official attendance is given as 1557 of which 301 are travelling City supporters.

78. Hines good control, crosses towards the penalty spot for Moussa to fire over. 

81. Thomas' shot is deflected out for a corner. Jordan Clarke heads over from the corner kick.

83. Lobjoit gets in a header on goal from a Hines cross.

92. Oxford win two throws in quick succession.
