Coventry City Ladies booked their place in the final of the Birmingham County FA Womens Cup for a second successive season with a 5-2 win at Wolves Women.

City, who have appointed Bill Newnes as their new Chairman and offered a position of Life President to out-going Chairman Dave Singleton, changed the team which had been beaten in the FA Cup by Leeds last Sunday.

Wolves had the early pressure but on fifteen minutes, City had a free kick on the left. Emily Simpkins sent over a free kick which the keeper could only spill into the path of Jade Formaston to score from close range.

Using the wind on a bitterly cold afternoon, Wolves drew level in the 33rd minute when a free kick sailed onto the bar and Danni Selmes got the final touch.

City, who had defenders Natasha Lynch and Leanne McKenna in fine form, played some great football in the second half and the chief beneficiary was Danni Saulter who scored from a shot on the turn, three minutes after the restart.

In the 55th minute, Saulter was played in and scored with a twenty yarder into the bottom corner for her second.

Saulter had two good chances saved by Wolves keeper and former CCFC season ticket holder Natalie Hall before Milly Durrant netted in the 68th minute after Hall had not been able to save a Kim Farrow effort.

Wolves were awarded a dubious penalty with nine minutes left which Selmes converted but Danni Saulter was able to complete her hat-trick and a fine performance when a Farrow ball fell into her path and she scored to send City through to the final.

Coventry City Ladies are in League Cup action on Thursday with a trip to Aston Villa.
