Former Coventry City midfielder Martin Jol won't be taking his Hamburg side to the last ever UEFA Cup Final.

Hamburg, leading 1-0 from the first leg, were beaten 3-2 by fellow German side Werder Bremen, who face Shakhtar Donestk in the final in Istanbul in thirteen days time.

Jol made 15 appearances for City during 1984-85 but his father fell ill and he returned to Holland never to return.

Rikki Bains has been released by Macclesfield Town. The defender came through the ranks at City but did not make the first team before he was released by Micky Adams. Bains has made one league appearance and one substitute appearance and was loaned out to Corby Town.

He has also played for Leek Town, Accrington and Tamworth since leaving City.

Arran Lee-Barrett has been released by Hartlepool United. The keeper made 53 appearances for the North East club after being released by City in May 2007. He joined City from Weymouth after impressing in a number of reserve team friendlies and the Sky Blues took over his contract until the end of the 2006/07 season.

Hartlepool have also released their other keeper Jan Budtz and this has fuelled speculation that Dimi Konstantopolous will return on a season long loan.

Former Sky Blue Willie Boland has not been offered a new contract by Hartlepool who have said they are monitoring the situation throughout the summer.
