New Record Low Gate For City

Coventry City's 1-1 draw with Scunthorpe United provided a new record low gate for City first team matches played in Coventry.

The gate of 6,885 was the lowest since City moved to the Ricoh Arena nearly ten years ago and was the lowest since a 1-1 draw with Bristol City on April 23rd 1962 and was worse than when the late Peter Hill scored for City in a 1-1 draw against Gillingham on April 26th 1958 in front of a crowd at Highfield Road of 6,914.

If you counted actual people in the ground rather than the amount of tickets sold which City and a number of other clubs have used for the last few seasons as a way of publishing their attendances, then the crowd for the Scunthorpe game was very much on a par with the 5,830 which saw City beat Aldershot 6-0 on Monday March 17th 1958.
