Mowbray Still Interested In Proschwitz

Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that he is still interested in Nick Proschwitz.

The German, whose performances for City were clearly not those of a player who once cost £3m and his penalty miss against Crawley Town and a poor performance in what was a massive game, has left many City supporters, some of whom will refuse to buy a season ticket if he is signed, questioning Mowbray’s motives as to why he is still interested in him.

Mowbray told Andy Turner of the Coventry Telegraph that he had bumped in to Proschwitz whilst in Mallorca and said: “I took my wife away for her birthday the weekend before last and Nick, amazingly, was staying in the same hotel and sat by the pool,” he revealed. “I could have been anywhere in the world so if you believe in fate...

“It was great to see him and we had a good chat, without it being a lot about work.

“I think he enjoyed the last few weeks of season when he was playing. I’d like him to stay and I think he’d like to stay. Can we do the money, do a deal? We’ll have to wait and see.

“Nick sent me a text yesterday to let me know what he’s doing. He’s told me he’s training with Kaiserslautern to work on his fitness. He knows the manager well and he’s given him a platform to stay fit because he didn’t want to find himself in a situation joining a club a few days before the season starts and trying to catch up and people judging him when he’s not fit.”
