Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has admitted that it will be a challenging start to the season for the Sky Blues.

City take on Wigan Athletic on August 8th and after the League Cup tie at Rochdale, they travel to Millwall, who were relegated from the Championship to play at a ground they have never won at.

Speaking to Keiran Crowley, Mowbray said: "It is an exciting start to the season as much as it is a challenging one. There are a lot of expectation on those two sides.

"Wigan have just been relegated and have a young manager in Gary Caldwell, someone I know very well and managed twice at Celtic and Hibernian, and I wish him all the best.

"Like Wigan, I'm sure Millwall will be expecting to bounce straight back to the Championship. It is always a good journey to Millwall and a good atmosphere.

"When a team is relegated, there is often a lot of upheavel in the summer with the players on the bigger salaries leaving so it might be a good time to play them but it can also work the other way."
