Mowbray Looking To Strengthen In Three Positions

Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that he is looking to strengthen his team in three positions.

The City boss is looking for a striker, a central defender and possibly a midfielder before the transfer window closes next week.

Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph, Mowbray said: “We’re trying hard to get one in today but whether that gets a green light or not we’ll wait and see.

“I don’t think there are any permanent signings out there. I think Peter Ramage is the one who has been like a permanent signing for us. We have an issue with loans again because we already have three.

“In an ideal world we would sign some players but we have to find the right ones to make our own and then supplement them with the best loans we can at the minute.

“Potentially there are three positions we’d like to strengthen in this window and yet we haven’t got room for three more loans, so maybe two loans. Let’s wait and see.

“We are working hard, even today as we speak we’re asking clubs about players we have identified footballers from,”

“Some we’re getting positive answers from and some negative. It doesn’t always fall into place, of course.

"You can ask a few clubs about certain players and one down your list will say, ‘yes, you can do that,’ and yet you don’t want to jump on that deal because you prefer someone else and they are stuttering a little bit.

“And then it’s a case of how long do you wait for that one to give you a definitive answer.

“But as the week goes on we’ll hopefully get there and hopefully have one or two additions. And if it’s not this week it’s not a problem because it can be done after the window shuts.”
