Mowbray Determined Not To Burn Out Jones

Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that he will be looking after Jodi Jones to make sure that he does not burn out from playing too many games.

The City boss told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner:

“Jodi Jones didn’t play for the last few games even though his talent dictates to me that he has to play, but we have to look after him and make sure we don’t overload him.

“A year ago he had a similar injury to James Maddison with his back after playing too many games too young so we have to try to manage that and look after him.

“I try to learn on my feet. In an ideal world we’d have had a more natural choice of centre-forward last season.

“We have had that discussion and in January instead of bringing in two centre-halves we maybe should have brought in a young and fast Premier League centre-forward who could have sat Arma on the bench without any concerns at all, given him a break.”
