Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that he is delighted for the fans and players after the Sky Blues 3-2 win over Peterborough United at the Ricoh Arena.

Mowbray said to the Coventry Telegraph: “We always knew it was going to be an open game because they’re a dynamic side who have scored more goals than anyone in the league, so we knew it was a very dangerous game and it proved to be so.

“It ebbed and flowed a little bit and we should have been 1-0 up from what we had worked on, letting them have the ball at the back and then try to nick it and break but I have to say they are a very good team.

“I thought we were unfortunate to be 2-0 down at half-time because Murphy had a great chance and Adam hit the post. But second half, what can you say? I think the supporters dragged the team along and we scored the next goal which was crucial.

“And then we did what we do really, we attacked with purpose and I have just watched Armstrong’s winner and if any player in the world scored a goal like that we’d all be eulogising about it. It was an amazing turn, he chopped back on two defenders and rifled it in the bottom corner with an amazing finish.

“So I’m delighted; delighted for the fans to come and see players with the heart and desire they showed in the second half.

“And I’m delighted for the players who know they have played against, in my opinion, one of the better teams in the league and get a positive result.”
