Mowbray: A Huge Credit To Joe Cole

Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has paid credit to Joe Cole for just wanting to play football.

Cole could have easily sat on his contract at Aston Villa and picked up the cash every month but decided that playing football was more important and moved to Coventry City.

Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph about Joe Cole, Mowbray said: “He’s here for his footballing talent, of course, and what he brings to the team but also the humility and example of a top football player who is just one of the lads, mucking in and just wanting to play football.

“When you break any player down I think one of the best traits is going back to what put you where you are, like being a kid in the street and Joe can’t get enough of the ball and just wants to play and enjoy it and that’s why he’s found himself here really. With respect to where Coventry are at the moment and the club he’s just left, it’s a step down in footballing terms in leagues but the fact that he just wants to play football and enjoy it is huge credit to him.”
