Mowbray - Johnson Is The Difference

Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that having Reda Johnson in the side is a bonus.

Not only has Johnson played in most of the games, City have got results in this season, but he has a big presence in the changing room.

Speaking to Tom Bloomfield at this morning's press conference, Mowbray said: "It is a very young dressing room, that can reflect on how the game goes sometimes. Yet young players will sometimes work extremely hard, they can run off a cliff for you. Sometimes there may be a lack of a voice in the dressing room, but Reda was focused and had that presence.

"If you want to analyse points achieved with Reda compared to without there is a difference. He brings real power and he can deal well in this rough and tumble division.

"His personality in the dressing room and around the training is all positive.

"He needs to look with the medical department at how to play more minutes on the field. It's not just this season, we need to change how he is looked after and how he trains so we can get the best out of him, because we need him on the pitch.

"If we have to change his training program, then we will do that.

"It is going to be Reda's decision whether he stays or not. A dominant, powerful centre-half is important in this league, hopefully something can be sorted out, if he can start playing those 40 games a season."
