Moving To BPA Is Something We Would Support

If Coventry City were to move out of the Ricoh Arena and in to the Butts Park Arena, then it is a move we would support.

Any move to a stadium with a capacity of up to 20,000 would see the Sky Blues no longer renting from Wasps and no longer under their dictatorial rules, like everyone connected with CCFC both club and supporters, out by 6pm after a game and would give the club more of a chance to profit from revenue streams such as food and drink.

To be honest, out of town stadiums, if they are not fully transport integrated which the Ricoh Arena is not and never has been, are now last century and clubs need to be looking at being amongst the people if they are to truly be part of the community and playing at a venue which is a short walk from Town, Earlsdon and the Bus and Railway Station, would vastly reduce the number of car journeys that City supporters currently have to make and satisfy many green concerns, as well as eradicating the City Council’s fears over car-parking.

By giving supporters the opportunity and the freedom to get to a stadium using ways other than by car, will in our opinion, encourage life into the City Centre and Earlsdon, especially the pubs and eateries, on a match day as supporters choose where they want to go before the game as they did at Highfield Road.

A newly developed Butts Park Arena would also benefit Coventry Rugby Club who would need a ground of a certain standard if they were to be promoted back to the Championship and for us, the benefits of moving to somewhere close to Town and taking away the hassle of having to get to the Ricoh Arena which has always required advanced planning for many and a ground which is not possible for some to get to for night matches, makes a lot of sense.
