Whilst many City supporters were at Wembley to see England fail to qualify for the European Championship with a 3-2 defeat to Croatia, Michael Mifsud was in international action for Malta in a 4-1 home defeat against Norway.

The City striker started for the George Cross Island who went three goals down at the break thanks to a Steffan Iversen hat-trick. In the 53rd minute, Mifsud, who picked up a booking, pulled one back when he scored with a right footed shot from an Ian Azzopardi cross.

Schembri's 67th minute dismissal saw Malta down to ten men before Norway added a fourth through Morten Gamst Pedersen.

In the last minute,Mifsud, who is suspended for the next three City games was replaced by Scerri.

Norway did not qualify as Turkey beat Bosnia 1-0.
