Michael Hughes Honoured

Former Coventry City midfielder Michael Hughes has been honoured with an award to mark his services to Northern Irish football.

Hughes, who admitted he retired too early after quitting the game following his release by the Sky Blues last season was given an award by the Amalgamation of Official Northern Ireland Supporters Clubs during the World Cup win against Poland on Saturday.

He said to the Irish FA website: "The Northern Ireland fans are world class and I will always cherish their support. To receive recognition like this from the fans themselves is very special."

Hughes will be working for the media tonight covering Northern Ireland's World Cup Qualifier against Slovenia in Belfast tonight.
