Former Coventry City forward/midfielder Gary McSheffrey is being encouraged to speak to other clubs as he appears not to be offered a new deal by Scunthorpe United.

Scunthorpe Chairman Peter Swann told Paul Crute of the Scunthorpe Telegraph: “Gary and Isaiah (Osbourne) were never offered new deals. They have been allowed to go away and see what was out there and nothing has changed with regards to that.

“There is nothing there for them to agree here because we haven’t offered them a deal. Nothing has changed since the end of last season and we are doing what we need to do.

“If we feel there is a need to make them both an offer, then we will.”
