McNulty: Only When Owners And Fans Put Aside Their Differences

Last updated : 25 March 2018 By CNS Sport

Coventry City striker Marc McNulty has said that only when the owners and fans put aside their differences will the Sky Blues be able to realise its full potential.

The Scot joined City knowing about all the long running dispute following actions by those running the club which have at times not been in the best interest of the club , its employees or supporters.

To this day, City supporters still have plenty of valid reasons not to go to home matches or buy things like merchandise or attend club events and many of these reasons will not go away until the likes of Joy Seppalla, Tim Fisher, Laura Deering and CEO David Boddy are no longer anything to do with the club which has dropped from the Championship to League Two during their time in charge.

McNulty, who should become the club's top scorer of goals in one season since relegation from the Premier League, after his hat-trick took his tally of goals for the season to twenty-one told The Daily Record: “Thankfully, there have been no major protests this season. It’s not over but the fans have been great with us this term.

“We had one guy run on the pitch at a home game when we were losing – but I think it was more to do with the fact that we were s***e that day.

“It’s disappointing what has happened in the last few years. The fanbase is there. But only when the owners and fans put aside their differences will the club be able to realise their potential.

“It was difficult for me at the start. I wasn’t playing badly but I was snatching at chances. The longer I went without a goal, the worse it got and I was doing stupid things. But I always tried to stay confident because I know I can score goals.

“The manager has been brilliant. There were times when he could have dropped me but he didn’t.

“Once a couple of goals went in, I got on a run. And now the fans are great with me."
