McGinnity On Reid Departure

Speaking to the club website,Chairman Mike McGinnity said: It hasn’t been a good festive season for anybody connected with Coventry City. I think the reaction the manager had from the fans on Monday capped it all and therefore Peter Reid, by mutual consent is leaving Coventry City.

"I am totally upset. It has been a difficult time. Had we won on Monday we wouldn’t be having this conversation. I’ve been away on my holidays and it hasn’t been pleasant for me over there. It has been extremely disappointing.

"I spoke to Peter a couple of times while I was away, I’ve come back and I’ve seen the reaction on my desk and Peter’s had his own reaction to him. I met him this morning and we spoke and decided it is in the best interests of everyone that we mutually part ways.

"What I would like to say about my relationship with Peter Reid is that from day one it has been 110% honesty both ways and I would like to wish him every success for the future."
