Mike McGinnity has slammed reports that Calum Davenport is being loaned to West Ham after completing his move to Spurs. "If it is correct then I find it absolutely diabolical. "We asked Tottenham to let us have him back on loan ourselves until the end of the season and they said no, so what can we do? Once they have bought him he is their player but we certainly won't be happy if Calum goes out on loan somewhere else."

He told the CET: "I think we have done exceptionally well to get £3 million for Calum in the current climate and I want to give Peter as much of that money as we can as it comes in. "I have got to. "I am not under any pressure from the bank because we are on target with our business plan and now I can help Peter out to buy some players. "I haven't bought a single player yet and I can't remember the last one the club bought - probably Lee Hughes. Peter has given me a list of players who he is trying to attract to the club because we are still trying to improve in certain areas. We are desperate for a striker and now that the transfer window has closed, those Premiership clubs who haven't been able to move players on will now hopefully be able to talk to us"Although I can't guarantee it, I am almost certain we will have at least one or two in for the Leeds game."

Meanwhile, the under fire City Chairman wants to Chris Kirkland back to Highfield Road. Although unlikely as Liverpool only have keepers Jerzy Dudek and Paul Harrison on their books, McGinnity said: " We would be getting a quality keeper and if we can get him playing regular football he is more likely to get a call up for England and our £250,000 back. "

City Chairman Mike McGinnity has also announced that Richard Shaw will not be awarded a testimonial this season, despite being at the club for ten years. Speaking in his monthly column on the club's website he said:"At the moment with all the End of an Era commitments we have during our final season at Highfield Road, there are no immediate plans to offer Richard a testimonial, although everybody recognises what a tremendous servant Richard has been to Coventry City and things can change in the future. Also, we originally planned to retain Richard on the coaching staff, because like Steve Ogrizovic we feel he deserves a long-term role with the Club."
