As suspected, Reda Johnson will be out for most of the season after a hamstring tendon injury was confirmed following a scan.
Johnson picked up the injury in the 79th minute of the 0-0 draw with Blackpool and sees Tony Mowbray now looking for a suitable replacement which will not be Everton defender Matt Pennington.
