Ladies Benefit From Fighting Fund Wind Up

Coventry City Ladies are to benefit to the tune of £200, thanks to the generosity of the GMK Fighting Fund.

The fund was set up to defend the proposed legal action. against the website threatened by lawyers acting on behalf of City Chairman Mike McGinnity for a post which was on the site's message board for less than four hours and was contributed to by City supporters from home and abroad as well as supporters of other clubs.

Although the withdrawal of legal action has not been officially withdrawn,the fund has been wound up. According to the accounts published by GMK, a total of £2,009. 92 was received with one City supporter donating £500 of which half has been refunded. Expenses inluding the legal fees accounted for £992.

The money left over has been divided between the Tsunami Appeal (£300),Oxfam (£300),Cancer Research (£300) and Coventry City Ladies.

The money to Coventry City Ladies is to be used to fund the league fees for next season of as many of it's teams as possible.
