Coventry City goalkeeper Keiren Westwood was left out of the Ireland team which faced Georgia at Croke Park in Dublin tonight.

Shay Given started the match in goal whilst former City youngster Dean Kiely was on the bench. Another former Sky Blue Robbie Keane started up front and scored twice in the second half to give Ireland a 2-1 win.

Westwood had admitted that he was happy being in the squad, saying to the CT: "Obviously I am just delighted to be in the squad and very proud, but I know I have got a lot of hard work ahead of me just to stay in the squad.

"It is a World Cup qualifier so it is a massive game for Ireland and for the good of the country I hope Shay Given doesn't get injured. "I worked with Shay ahead of the Poland game and that can only benefit me working with players like that. "You do the same sort of drills and stuff but it is the quality that is a next step up."

Michael Mifsud, who has yet to make his debut for Barnsley after joining them on loan last Monday, played the whole game for Malta in their home 0-0 draw with Albania at the Ta'Qali National Stadium.

A number of City supporters were in Seville to see England lose 2-0 to Spain in a friendly.
