Jorgensen The Match Day Guest

Last updated : 08 October 2018 By CCFPA

Popular ex Sky Blue and former CCFPA committee member Claus Bech Jorgensen will be the Coventry City Former Players Association’s ‘special guest’ at next Tuesday night’s Checkatrade Trophy clash at the Ricoh with Forest Green Rovers. CBJ will be watching the Sky Blues second match in the group stage which they have to win to stand any chance of progressing, having already lost last month at home to Arsenal’s U21 team!

CBJ in the Sky Blue

Claus, born in Holstebro, Denmark in 27 April 1976, and a Faroes Island international, is part of club history having scored the first ever Ricoh goal after 10 minutes when the Sky Blues defeated QPR at its new ground in August 2005. The other scorer (Dele Adebola) and the Sky Blues gaffer Micky Adams at the time are now fellow CCFPA members.

Claus will be remembered as a combative forward who came from Bradford City in August 2003 and clocked up over 60 appearances for the Sky Blues scoring six times. He moved to Blackpool in 2006 and thence to Port Vale in 2009 (and briefly for, then non league, Fleetwood Town). Since hanging up his boots Claus has been developing his media and business careers and is proprietor of a local company Unique Floorcare Ltd (one of CCFPA’s Corporate members).

Look out for CBJ ‘around the lounges’ at the Ricoh prior to the game where he will meet the club’s supporters in the company of club host, another former Sky Blue veteran Brian ‘HarryRoberts. After the game, no doubt, he will be joining CCFPA Vice President  Billy Bell in Lady Gs under the Ricoh where he will do a Q&A with Billy in front of Sky Blues fans.

Claus has been back in recent years working as a part time for CCFC’s Academy as well as helping out fellow CCFPA member and former Sky Blue forward  Andy Morrell when he was recently manager at Tamworth United.

Claus is a ‘Ricoh Regular’ and always tries to support CCFPA events, not least our annual Legends Days and Golf Days where he usually enters at least one team from his company. If you really can’t get down to the game to see Claus in person you can always tune into the local radio station BBC CWR where CBJ will be assisting their live match day commentary team with analysis of the unfolding play.
